When a person is in crisis, the best intervention is someone who can meet them where they are, empathize, de-escalate the situation, and help connect them to resources.
Urban Alchemy’s trained Practitioners are ideally suited to serve in these situations, because many have experienced and overcome homelessness, incarceration, and other traumatic circumstances themselves.
Our teams provide safety and wellness checks, overdose reversals, mental health emergency interventions, and more for unhoused neighbors in crisis. We believe every person deserves to be treated with dignity and respect, and people living without shelter face more trauma and danger than most.
Each practitioner receives training in:
- Trauma-informed and strength-based care
- Cultural and gender awareness
- De-escalation
- Harm reduction
- Self-care and wellness safety
- CPR and first aid
- Naloxone training
- Needs and engagement assessment
- Services linkages
