Affordable, time-efficient, and safe emergency housing options are critical to responding to the immediate needs of unhoused neighbors. However, inclement weather, extreme heat, floods, earthquakes, and fires don’t just affect the unhoused but also those with property to protect. Urban Alchemy helps cities during natural disasters by setting up pop-up shelters that provide safe places to sleep and vital social services that may have been disrupted by the catastrophe. While traditionally we have focused these efforts to serve our unhoused neighbors, we believe our expertise in standing up and operating emergency housing sites can be useful to the broader community.
