Urban Alchemy’s Home Away From Home.
While growing and budding in San Francisco, Urban Alchemy also began to set its roots in Los Angeles, starting with serving as operator of the Skid Row Clean Team, Pit Stops, and Mobile Hygiene programs. In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, UA stayed on the streets and expanded services and support to interim and COVID housing. In the last three years, Urban Alchemy has provided an ever-expanding array of services in Los Angeles, including operation of safe sleep villages in Hollywood, Venice, and South Los Angeles.
In 2021, Urban Alchemy partnered with the City of Los Angeles Mayor’s Office to design, build and pilot the CIRCLE (Crisis and Incident Response through Community Led-Engagement) program. Starting in the Venice and Hollywood communities and now expanded to South LA, The Valley, Harbor Area, and Downtown Los Angeles, our Practitioners serve on teams that respond to non-emergency 911 and 311 calls relating to homeless individuals. The teams help de-escalate volatile situations and connect residents to mental health and drug recovery resources, as well as operate a fully integrated call dispatch center that routes their calls to Practitioners in the field.
