Louie Hammonds has been a part of Urban Alchemy since its early days, having previously worked with Dr. Miller at Hunters Point Family. He was drawn to Urban Alchemy by the chance to give back to his community. After serving 21 years in prison, he wanted to do his part to rebuild his community. While in prison, he earned his GED and four associate’s degrees. He is currently attending classes at San Francisco State University to obtain a bachelor’s degree. He also became a peer mentor focused on substance abuse, restorative justice, and victim awareness. Once released in 2017, he joined Urban Alchemy and quickly worked his way through the ranks. Hammonds is most proud of the many lives he’s saved through overdose reversals.
