Prisons, the streets, gun violence, and abuse defined my existence, leaving me convinced I'd never be more than an overlooked "low-life." After a stay in county jail and the tragic loss of my little brother to gun violence, my focus shifted to securing a job, maintaining sobriety, and finding stable housing. With my past record, I had no idea how to proceed, but the unexpected opportunity at Urban Alchemy came at just the right time. During the initial hour of training at Urban Alchemy, learning about the company's vision, mission, and values, I realized this job could be much more than just a paycheck. I've discovered the genuine value in life, integrity, accountability, and caring for others. Not long ago, I was the one in need of healing, love, respect, compassion, and, above all, safety. Thanks to Urban Alchemy, I have found these things and can provide them to others every day.
