Practitioner Story

Carrie Bell

In less than five years, Carrie Bell has gone from a formerly incarcerated returning citizen to the manager of a safe sleep shelter site for the homeless that has been acclaimed by government leaders, members of the business community, and the media. After spending more than 14 years in prison, she decided to turn her life around and dedicate herself to helping others. The core of Carrie’s leadership is her dedication to supporting everyone – team members and guests – and treating everyone with dignity and respect. She strongly believes you can never write anyone off, no matter how many times they’ve struggled or failed. She regularly meets one-on-one with every member of her team and every guest at the sites she manages to help guide them in their individual journeys as returning citizens and unhoused neighbors returning to permanent housing.
