Brandi Ghementi had been homeless for over a year when she first heard about the tiny homes on 33 Gough. She had stayed in other homeless shelters before, but none of them had really made a difference in her life. But something about Urban Alchemy's approach to housing and support services caught her attention. She decided to give it a try and applied for a spot at the tiny homes.
To her surprise, the experience has been better than she ever expected. The tiny homes are not just a place to sleep, but a community where people look out for each other. The staff at Urban Alchemy has been supportive and attentive, and she has received help with everything from finding a job to accessing healthcare.
Brandi says that what sets Urban Alchemy apart from other places she has stayed is the sense of respect and dignity she feels as a resident. The staff treats her like a human being and listens to her needs and concerns. She is grateful for the opportunity to live in a safe and supportive environment and hopes to one day give back to Urban Alchemy in any way she can.
